AIDA (ANNIE) BRADFORD COUNCIL

Bradford Council wanted to make it easier for people to access trusted Adult Social Care information, whenever they needed it and in the language they were most comfortable using. Working in partnership with Bullet AI, the council launched Annie, its locally branded Aida assistant, to provide instant, personalised support through web chat and WhatsApp.

AIDA: CONNECTING WITH CARERS ACROSS SOUTH YORKSHIRE

Across South Yorkshire, thousands of unpaid carers provide vital support to family members and friends every day. Many don’t recognise themselves as carers, don’t know what support they’re entitled to or simply don’t have time to seek help during traditional office hours.

Real Conversations. Real Outcomes.

These stories highlight the human impact of conversational AI, showing how timely, personalised support can build confidence, encourage positive behaviour change and help people access the right support when they need it most.

Supporting People in Moments of Crisis

During one conversation, Annie recognised indicators that suggested a safeguarding concern. Rather than simply continuing the conversation, the assistant immediately provided crisis guidance and signposted the individual to the appropriate emergency and specialist support, helping ensure they could access urgent help without delay.

From First-Day Nerves to Becoming Smoke Free

Like many people starting their quit journey, one user was anxious about whether they would succeed. Through regular encouragement, personalised advice and timely support during difficult moments, they remained engaged throughout the programme. By day 28 they had successfully stopped smoking and continued to build confidence, proving that consistent support can make lasting behaviour change achievable.

Every Conversation Builds Confidence

A user initially reached out looking for practical advice about quitting smoking but continued returning to the service over several weeks. As confidence grew, conversations shifted from managing cravings to celebrating smoke-free milestones and developing healthier routines. The relationship evolved from answering questions to providing ongoing encouragement throughout the quit journey.

Finding the Right Support, First Time

A resident contacted Annie looking for help arranging support for their mother but wasn’t sure where to begin. Instead of navigating multiple webpages, Annie explained the care assessment process, answered follow-up questions and directed them straight to Bradford’s Independence Advice Hub, giving them confidence that they were accessing the right service.

Helping Carers Discover Support They Didn’t Know Existed

An unpaid carer reached out looking for financial help while caring for a family member full-time. Through a simple conversation, Aida explained their entitlement to a Carer’s Assessment and potential financial support, helping them discover services they didn’t realise were available.
